BOLD (British Open-ended Learning and Discovery Lab)

UKRI/EPSRC national AI research lab hosted at Oxford (with UCL and Imperial), directed by Jakob Foerster. Research pillars: new learning algorithms, human-centred AI, and embodied systems. FLAIR winds down into BOLD, institutionalizing Oxford's open-endedness program at national scale. Note on funding: the £60M/6-year UKRI programme covers two national labs (~£8M initial each) — the other, hosted at UCL, is the open-source-AI-focused SOFAIR — so the full £60M is not Oxford's.
